Your Purpose Will Be Distinctive

Richard RobertsFourth of five parts

I don’t see God as doing things in exactly the same way twice. All of creation bears that out. No two snowflakes are identical. No two sets of fingerprints are the same.

When God reveals to you His purpose for your life, it won’t be like that of any other person.

When I was a little boy, I used to love to watch my father lay hands on the sick. I loved to go to the crusade meetings to see the people healed. When God called me into the healing ministry many years later, I thought that He would use my hands the way He used my dad’s hands. But the Lord said, “No. I called him to be Oral. I called you to be Richard.”

The Lord said to me, “You won’t lay hands on the sick as a general rule. You will speak the word of healing like Jesus did to the Roman centurion, and I will heal. I will manifest the gifts of the spirit in your life.” The Lord went on to say, “I will do that because you’re going to be on television more than your father has been on television, and, on television, you will not be able to touch the people. You’ll be overseas more than your father has been overseas, and the crowds will be so large you won’t be able to touch all the people who need My miracles.” At first, I couldn’t figure this all out in my mind, but I just trusted God and His word to me.

And as God spoke it to me is the way the Lord has used me. Many times when I am preaching or talking on our television program, the Lord will stop me to give me a word of knowledge about someone who is being healed, or He will direct me to speak a strong word of healing to a particular person or to those with a particular ailment. And time and time again, the Lord has been faithful to His Word, His gifts, and the method that He has chosen for me to use in the healing ministry. The sick are being healed!

When the Lord reveals His purpose to you for your life, it won’t be “just like” that of any other person. It will be a purpose uniquely designed just for you. It will fit you like a glove on a hand. Listen for God’s one-of-a-kind word to you.
