“You Can Depend on Jesus…Always!”

From the archives of Evelyn Roberts

There are very few of us who have trouble-free lives. One day I found the most wonderful verse in the Bible that deals with this. Hebrews 2:18 AMP, speaking of Jesus, says, Because He Himself [in His humanity] has suffered in being tempted (tested and tried), He is able (immediately) to run to the cry of (assist, relieve) those who are being tempted and tested and tried.

That verse says Jesus understands what we’re going through, and He’s able to run to us immediately whenever we need Him! I like that! He doesn’t have to wait a long time. Maybe a doctor or a friend or a family member can’t get to us in time, but if we call on Jesus when we’re in trouble, He hurries to help us.

We also have God’s Word in times of adversity. The Word gives us the power we need to overcome temptations, trials, and tests. Hebrews 4:12 AMP says, For the word of God is living and active and full of power [making it operative, energizing, and effective]. It is sharper than any two-edged sword, penetrating as far as the division of the soul and spirit [the completeness of a person], and of both joints and marrow [the deepest parts of our nature], exposing and judging the very thoughts and intentions of the heart. That Scripture continues by saying, Not a creature exists that is concealed from His sight (v. 13).

God sees everything we do, and He knows all of our thoughts. He is everywhere we are. We may feel alone, but God is with us! When I’m in trouble, I like knowing that Jesus will run to me and that I can depend on Him . . . always!
