Will It Pass the Test of Time?

Richard Roberts

God is the same yesterday, today and forever.  The absolute principles of His will and His Word bear the same quality: they last and they do not change.

God’s will for your life is that you believe in Jesus and have eternal life. As John 3:16 tells us, “For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”  Just as God desires for you to live with Him forever, so He desires that what you do on this earth will last forever. In other words, God’s will is that your life here on earth will yield heavenly fruit that lasts for all eternity.

The Bible also teaches: “If what has been built survives, the builder will receive a reward” (1 Corinthians 3:14).

What is the one thing that will last into eternity? It’s the souls of men and women who love God. What can be our greatest work, then, on this earth? What is the one thing that we can do, and know that in doing it we are always within the will of God? Win souls! It is always God’s will for us that we share the Gospel with those around us. It is always part of God’s will for us to be partners in a ministry that is winning souls for God.

Ask yourself, “Is what I am about to say or do going to have good consequences for all eternity? Will this action, or this word, help someone live their life so they will be in Heaven with Jesus someday?
