Whose Side?

Richard Roberts

When I was a sinner, I served the devil and did a good job of it. But when I made up my mind just two weeks before my 20th birthday to give my life to Jesus, I gave my whole life to Him. I gave Him all my talent, my ability, my desire, and my future. And I determined that I was going to serve God better than I’d ever served the devil.

I know there are two sides to life. Even after we have accepted Jesus Christ as our Savior and Lord, we have a decision to make every day: With whom will we side?

The devil’s side says if you want anything in life, you’ve got to lie, steal, and destroy others in order to get it.

But God’s side says you can trust God and He will give you your heart’s desires (Psalm 37:4).

The devil’s side says, if you serve God, you are going to be poor, sick and an outcast.

God’s side says, if you serve God, He will lead you into total prosperity for every area of your life — spirit, mind, body, finances, relationships. God will be your Source of total supply for everything you need. (See 3 John 2 and Philippians 4:19.)

The devil’s side says, if you want anything out of this life, you’ll have to fight and scrape to make it happen.

God’s side says, “Expect a miracle.” God will take care of you. He will make a way where there seems to be no way. (See Isaiah 43:19.)

The Bible challenges us: “…choose you this day who you will serve. But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord” (Joshua 24:15. May we respond today, “We also serve the Lord; for He is our God” (Joshua 24:18).
