Easter is a special time of year to me because the world slows down to think again of how the Son of God, after dying on Calvary, rose from the tomb.

Many people doubt, and some sneer, but those of us who believe know that we know that our Savior is risen! We know there is an empty tomb because it couldn’t hold Jesus’ body more than three days.

Everything Jesus was in the flesh, and all that He accomplished on the Cross for our salvation, healing, and prosperity in God, were in that tomb with Jesus. Little did the evil men who crucified Him know that they were carrying their own hope of deliverance when they took His crucified form down from the cross and gave it to the disciples to be put in the tomb. But God knew, and the angels knew. And on that third morning, God sent the angel to roll away the stone and sit on it.

When Jesus came out of the winding sheets of the dead, He stood exulting, Because I live, ye shall live also (John 14:19). He had you and me in mind. In one swift touch of the Holy Spirit, all of our sins, all of our discouraging moments and defeated hopes, and of all our present and future were put into Christ’s hands when He arose with the glory of Heaven and earth in His new body.

You and I who believe can point to the empty tomb and cry, “He is not there!” We can read His Holy Word and say, “He is the resurrection and the life (see John 11:25).”
