And as ye go, preach, saying, The kingdom of heaven is at hand. Heal the sick (Matthew 10:7–8). In verse seven, Jesus sent the twelve disciples on their way with His power to heal sickness and disease and cast out demons. He said, As you go, preach.
As you go, preach; you are not healers. I have dreamed that someday members of the press would grasp that we are preachers who bring the message of salvation to humanity and pray for people. We do bring healing to them, but first and last, we are preachers.
I am only interested in being God’s man. I am going to be a voice, like John the Baptist; a voice, not just an echo. Before our lives are over, we must make an impact and show the world that we don’t build our work around ourselves, but we use ourselves to demonstrates our point.
God has ordained the preaching of His Word. We have had people come to our crusades who didn’t want me to preach. They wanted me to lay hands on them as soon as I got out of the car so they could get back in their car and drive home. God wants us to be healed in body, mind and spirit so that our lives might be prolonged, death might be postponed, and we may live on God’s side and be a witness of His Son, Jesus. There is a spiritual link between healing and the sick person because healing is truly spiritual.
Several years ago, I began to grow discouraged with people. They would not do as I wanted them to do in the healing line, or they wouldn’t listen to the sermon. I began to complain to the Lord, and He said to me, “Remember Moses.” It struck my heart like a knife. Moses did not see the Promised Land because he struck the rock in anger. Now, when I begin to lose patience, I remember what the Lord said — “Remember Moses” — and I remind myself, “Do the best you can, and when you fail, be sure you have done what you know is right.”
