This Word Shall Stand

Richard Roberts

Now when He had departed from there, He went into their synagogue. And behold, there was a man who had a withered hand. And they asked Him, saying, “Is it lawful to heal on the Sabbath?”—that they might accuse Him. Then He said to them, “What man is there among you who has one sheep, and if it falls into a pit on the Sabbath, will not lay hold of it and lift it out? Of how much more value then is a man than a sheep? Therefore it is lawful to do good on the Sabbath.” Then He said to the man, “Stretch out your hand.” And he stretched it out, and it was restored as whole as the other. Matthew 12:9-13

Every word of the Bible is true. The Bible says that Jesus entered into the synagogue and a man was there who had a withered hand. Luke’s Gospel says his right hand was withered. Your right hand is your hand of strength. It is your hand of power.

The Bible says that Jesus saw the man. The religious leaders came to ask Jesus a question, and their question was a trick. They had a strategy that they might accuse Him. They were looking for some reason to kill him. Jesus knew their hearts, and answered them regarding a sheep that had fallen into a pit.

Only people with a vision fall into pits. David found himself in a pit hiding from the javelin of Saul in a cave. Joseph found himself in a pit. He was a dreamer and his brothers hated him for it. They cast him into a pit, and later into a prison. Jeremiah was a prophet. He found himself in a pit because he would not stop prophesying; the religious people threw him into a well. Daniel found himself in a pit because he prayed unto the Lord, and he was thrown into a pit with hungry lions. But God padlocked the lion’s mouth. Nebuchadnezzar threw Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego into a pit, but the Holy Ghost made them fireproof. It is people with vision who fall into pits.

I want you to know that Jesus sees you in your condition. He knows who you are. He knows where you live. He knows what you’re going through, and Jesus is calling to you. He’s saying, “Come forth! Stand forth! Rise up!” And His Word will stand!
