The Shaping of My Life

Richard RobertsSecond of two parts

Days went by, then weeks and months past. It had been prophesied over me that the healing ministry would come into my life, but I knew that my faith had something to do with it. I had to launch out. I had to believe.

God will give you a word from time to time, but you can’t sit back and expect it all to simply happen. You have to do your part. God expects you to do your part. Without God, you cannot; but without you, He will not. So I knew I must keep trusting God and believing that a healing ministry would come.

In 1980, I was preaching in a crusade in New Mexico. There, God began the healing ministry in my life, and people began to get healed, primarily through the word of knowledge. This gift is manifested through me quite often, not because of me, but because of Him. I don’t have the word of knowledge; I have the Holy Spirit. The good news is that the Holy Spirit has the word of knowledge, and He manifests that gift in His timing.

Once, when I was preaching in Dallas, I was given a word of knowledge. The Lord told me there was a woman who had not been able to breathe through her nose for 20 years. That woman was gloriously healed!

As she was giving her testimony, a man walked down the center aisle and said to me, “I am her husband, and she had to drag me here because I don’t like you. That’s my wife and I know she couldn’t breathe through her nose.”

I asked him what he wanted me to do, and he said, “I want you to lead me to Jesus.” So I led him in the sinner’s prayer. Most churches aren’t talking about healing today. They aren’t talking about salvation and deliverance. Be sure you have chosen a church where you see the power of God in action. I thank God He is continuing to shape my life.
