When I was young, I had dreams for my life. I wanted two things: to be a nightclub singer and a professional athlete. What I didn’t want was anything to do with God.
But God had other plans for me. Through the prayers of my parents, I stopped running from God’s love and turned to Him and received His salvation. And it was then that He began to reveal His plans for my life.
In Proverbs 19:21 NIV God says, Many are the plans in a man’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails. God had something better in mind for me. When I gave my life to Him, His plans became more important to me than my own. I wanted to go His way, and I began to seek His direction. In Isaiah 30:21 NIV God tells us, Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, “This is the way, walk in it.”
Today, instead of being a nightclub singer or professional golfer, I am in the healing ministry. I have found that God’s plans are much better than mine.
God has plans for you, too. And His plans for you are far beyond anything you have even thought of or imagined. I’ve quit asking God to go with me and my plans. I ask Him if I can go with Him because He knows where we’re going!
