Set the Lord Always Before You

Richard Roberts Second of four parts

Let me take you to the Word of God in Psalm chapter16.

#1. Acknowledge that you need to change and purpose in your heart that you are going to change. Psalm 16:8 says, I have set the Lord always before me; because He is at my right hand I shall not be moved.

This means that in recognizing your need for change, only the Lord can help you. I have set the Lord always before me. In other words, “I’m looking to God as the total Source of my supply. He is my help, He is my strength, He is my provider, He is my Lord, He is my Savior, He is my guide. Because He is at my right hand, I will not be shaken. I will not be moved. I will not be shaken from this resolve” You have to decide to do something. You cannot allow life to just pass you by.

They say there are three kinds of people—people who make things happen, those who watch things happen, and those who say, “What happened?” You have to make up your mind that you’re going to change. The word “repent” means to change your mind. Only you can change your mind, but only God can change your heart.

Acknowledge that you need to change and then purpose in your heart that you’re going to change. In Philippians 3:13˗14, Paul says, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.
