Reaching and Pressing

From the archives of Oral RobertsThird of three parts

The apostle Paul said that his aim toward his goal in life ― to serve God and to do His will ― was marked by two words: reaching and pressing.

“Reaching forth unto those thing which are before” (Philippians 3:13). Paul was looking for miracles to happen in his life. He was expecting something GOOD to happen to him. He was looking for God’s next opportunity for his life!

“I press toward the mark” (Philippians 3:14). Paul wasn’t moving through life at a slow walk. He wasn’t stopping every little while to calculate his next move or to scheme about what step to take. Paul was running toward God! He was so sure of God’s goodness and of God’s miracles that he could hardly wait to get to them! He was so sure that God was FOR him and not against him that he could hardly wait to hear what God might say to him next!

You see, when you are really SURE that God has a reward for you… a harvest for you… a blessing for you… it will be like a PRIZE to you. You will WANT to reach out toward God and press toward God’s will with your whole being.

Forget the past… reach out… press on!

Those are the three great keys to moving forward with God in your life!
