Put On Your Armor!

Richard Roberts

The Bible tells us that our battles in life are not against flesh and blood, but against the forces of the devil. And, thank God, it also says that Jesus has given us His armor to protect us from head to toe (see Ephesians 6:11–18)! Our family puts on the armor of God every day, and you can too.

First, put on the helmet of salvation to protect your mind because that’s where fear can come in. Then put on the breastplate of righteousness, which covers the most vital organ, your heart. Romans 10:10 says that with the heart man believes.

Next, put on the belt of truth, which is integrity. When you put it on, you’re saying that you’re going to be a person of truth and integrity and you’re going to live in the real truth, God’s truth. Then reach down and pull on your gospel shoes of peace so you can walk over the devil’s roughest territory in peace.

Then take the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God. When you put the Word in you, then it comes out of you when you need it.

Above all, take up the shield of faith to quench the devil’s fiery darts. Faith is a giant shield that covers your home, your family, and everything that concerns you. Four times the Bible declares that “the just shall live by faith.” We don’t live by our fear or our money or our circumstances but by faith in God and His Word.

And last, pray in the Spirit every day. When you don’t know what to pray for, that’s when you can pray in tongues and tap into the Spirit’s perfect prayer for you (see Romans 8:26).

When you’re clothed in God’s full armor every day, no matter what life throws at you, you can be confident because you know you are well-equipped with God\’s power!
