Overcoming Trouble

Overcoming Trouble

Like most
people I meet, we want to have a good life. And like many, our desires are to
“live happily ever after.” But God’s Word lets us know that as long as there is
a devil in this world, then there will be evil. God is good, but the devil will
do all he can to stop God’s plan for us and pour the devil’s evil on us. The
Bible says that the sun rises “on the evil and on the good,” and “the rain
falls on the just and on the unjust” (Matthew 5:45). Jesus said to His closest
followers, “In the world ye shall have
(John 16:33).

We don’t have
to seek out trouble… trouble is a part of life. The good news is that the Bible
also promises us, “All things work
together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according
to his purpose”
(Romans 8:28).

In my own
life, I’ve had enough tribulation to last me the rest of my days! I don’t
consider any of those troubles to have been “good.” Two miscarriages…several
surgeries…the death of my father when I was 12…the death of my beloved
firstborn son…the persecution we’ve experienced for being on television and
proclaiming the healing Gospel of Jesus Christ. None of that persecution,
sickness, or death had one ounce of good in it! But, the truth of God’s Word is
that in those things, God has worked in my life for good. He brought me through
those tough times. He showed me that He is greater than any of my troubles and
that He will take authority over their consequences if I’ll let Him.  God didn’t allow me to be destroyed each time
a trouble hit.  No… He gave me the
courage to overcome that trouble and He used it to strengthen my faith.

That’s really
the key, isn’t it? When trouble strikes, we must trust the consequences to the
Lord. He can bring something good out of bad. He can change the outcome from
something negative in our lives to something positive. He can turn a bad
experience into something that builds us up, causes our faith to become
stronger, and leads us to a miracle in our future.

Is trouble
striking you today? Trust God to turn it to good in your life as you remain
faithful to Him and continue to seek His purposes in your life.
