One More Push

Lindsay Roberts

One night, I was listening to Oral (my late father-in-law) preach on TV, and he was describing the birth of Rebecca, Oral and Evelyn’s firstborn child. He was telling how the doctor was saying to Evelyn, “Push, push” … and, the Lord gave me this thought: The difference between life and death for a baby is in that one last push.

When a mother doesn’t make the one last push, the baby can die in her womb – because birthing requires pushing.

That’s true in many areas of our lives. If we want a miracle, we have to be willing to push for one. If we want to go forward with God, we must push for life and Christ, and against the devil and death.

The devil will do everything he can to keep you and your dream from being “birthed” into a miracle. He wants you to stay where you are and die. He wants to destroy you before you can emerge into the good thing that God has for you. John 10:10 says the thief, or devil, comes to steal, kill and destroy. But the rest of that verse is what we strive for, what we push for, when Jesus said, “I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.”

Moses said to his people one day, “God wants us to leave Egypt and go to the other side of the Red Sea to the Promised Land.” The devil, working through Pharaoh, did everything in his power to keep that from happening. Great plagues resulted. The devil knew that a new life ― one filled with more of the power of God, more of God’s miracles ― was waiting for them if they left Egypt.

Jesus said to His disciples one day, “Let us go over to the other side of the Sea of Galilee.” The devil, working through a great storm, did everything in his power to prevent their crossing. The devil knew that on the other side of the lake, a man with a thousand demons was about to be set free. (See Luke 8:22-30.)

It took a great push of faith for Moses to take his people out of Egypt. It took a great push of faith for Jesus to calm the sea.

What is the Lord trying to birth in you? What miracle is calling you forward? Give a push of your faith today!
