Never Alone

From the archives of Oral Roberts

You may remember as a youth reading the story of Robinson Crusoe. Crusoe was stranded on a deserted island and as time passed, he began to feel desperately lonely. Have you ever felt that kind of loneliness — that awful, nagging feeling that you are all alone in the world, even when you are standing in a crowded room?

Well, one day Robinson Crusoe was walking across the island and he spotted a footprint. Immediately he realized that it was a human footprint — and that it was fresh! That meant there was another man on the island! And that meant he was not alone! Just knowing that there was another human being on the island made all the difference in the world to him.

Jesus came to this earth to show us God’s desire that a man or woman need never feel completely alone. God, our Father, is closer to us than the breath we breathe.

When Jesus left this physical earth to return to His heavenly home, He promised that He would send another Comforter, the Holy Spirit, and the Holy Spirit would not only be WITH us, but IN us. (See John 14:17-18.) Jesus went on to say, “Ye shall know that I am in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you” (John 14:20). We can have the companionship of God with us all the time!

Ask the Holy Spirit today to reveal Himself to you in a new way — so that you might feel and experience His presence within you, driving away all loneliness and filling your heart, mind, and spirit, with His comforting presence.
