Miracles Are Jesus in Action

From the archives of Oral Roberts“Miracles Series” – Third of seven parts

When the lame man begged alms of Peter and John, Peter said to him, “We have something to give you that is more important than money.” (See Acts 3:6.)

What was it that Peter and John had? They had the unlimited Spirit of Christ Jesus dwelling inside them. They had the miracle-working power of the Holy Spirit bursting the seams of their souls. Peter said to the beggar, “Look at us.” In other words, concentrate on what is about to happen. And then Peter said, “In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk!” Friend, it was a powerful moment.

As Peter took the beggar’s hand and began to lift up his limp, powerless body, the unlimited power of God Himself began to flow through Peter and enter that man’s body like a lightning bolt. Strength surged into his muscles. He began to leap about, praising God.

Miracles aren’t some kind of spiritual hocus-pocus or magic. Miracles are Jesus Christ in action ― they are the “works” of Jesus. Miracles are what Jesus does when men and women today start reaching out to those in need with faith believing that people can get up and walk ― no matter what is holding them down in life. When the crowd began to applaud Peter and John, Peter said, “Why look ye so earnestly on us, as though by our own power or holiness we had made this man to walk? … The God of our fathers hath glorified his Son Jesus” (Acts 3:12&13). In other words, Peter was saying, “It’s not us. It’s Jesus working through us.”

Look for Jesus in action today. Wherever He is allowed to work through people, miracles are happening.
