Love Has a Face

Lindsay Roberts

The Bible gives us the definition of love: “Love Is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud or rude. Love does not demand its own way. Love is not irritable, and keeps no record of when it has been wronged. It is never glad about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance. Love will last forever” (1 Corinthian’s 13:4–8 NLT).

First John 4:16 says that “God is love.” But sometimes it’s hard for us to put a face on His love. To do that, re-read the “love chapter,” replacing the word love with the word God, and you can see love’s face. “God” is patient and kind… “God” is not irritable and keeps no record of when He has been wronged… “God” never gives up… “God” never loses faith… “God” endures through every circumstance.

Love is not hearts and candy. That’s an outward expression of love. Love has action. Love is God.
