Legend of Three Little Trees

From the archives of Oral RobertsFirst of four parts

So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it. For ye shall go out with joy, and be led forth with peace: the mountains and the hills shall break forth before you into singing, and all the trees of the field shall clap their hands (Isaiah 55:11˗12).

This scripture had a fantastic effect on a woman by the name of Helen Bowers, a writer of books, a dreamer of dreams, and one who has visions from the Lord.

God tells us that when His Word goes forth to the ends of the earth, it shall not return unto Him void, but it shall prosper and accomplish whatsoever He purposeth.

Because of the prospering of the Word of God as it goes forth through the world, the mountains and the hills break forth into singing, and all the trees of the field begin to clap their hands.

Helen had this vision. She saw all the trees of the forest clapping their hands and giving praise to God, and she saw that, like us, trees have their dreams, goals, and plans for their lives.

There were three little trees that summed up the way many of the others felt.

The first little tree dreamed of being made into a baby bed. It said, “I love babies. I’ve seen the parents bring their babies through the forest, and there is nothing more beautiful. I’ve wanted to hold babies, and my dream is to be made into a baby’s bed.”

The second little tree said, “Oh, that’s not important. I don’t want that at all. I want to be made into a great sailing ship. I want to sail the broad rivers and the mighty oceans, carrying precious cargo.”

The third little tree was reflective. It remained quiet for some time, thinking things over. “All I want is to grow here on the side of the hill and point men to God. I can think of nothing more important than that.”
