Know Jesus

Richard RobertsThird of three parts

Know Jesus. The last story in Luke 18 that tells us how to get our prayers answered is about blind Bartimaeus (vv.35-43). As he sat by the side of the road begging for money, Jesus came by. Bartimaeus cried out to Him, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me” (v. 38 NIV)! He was saying, “Jesus, I know You’re the Savior, and You can save me from the blindness.”

Bartimaeus knew who Jesus was. He cried out, “Lord, I want to see.”And Jesus said to him, “Receive your sight; your faith has healed you” (v.42 NIV). Instantly, Bartimaeus could see, and he followed Jesus, praising and glorifying God! Bartimaeus’ healing brought him into a personal relationship with Jesus.

If you want to get your prayers answered, you need to know Jesus―not just about Him, but know Him. And the only way to do that is to receive Him into your heart and have a personal knowledge of Him.

God is not only able to answer our prayers, but He’s also willing and ready to do so. But we have to do our part: have a never-give-up attitude, keep a humble spirit, have childlike faith and trust in the Lord, be a giver, and learn to know Jesus personally. When we do this, I believe we can get our prayers answered!
