Keep Your Eyes on Jesus

Keep Your Eyes on Jesus

There is so much fear and uneasiness in our world today! People are afraid of living and dying, of losing their money and not having enough to make ends meet. Others are afraid of losing their health. It seems that nearly everyone is afraid of something.

The Lord does not want us to be afraid or let fear dominate our lives. He came to deliver us out of the hands of the enemy (that we) might serve him without fear (Luke 1:74). But in order for Him to do that, we must keep our eyes on Him.

There was once a boy who wanted to be a great pianist. He studied under many music professors. Then one day, he heard of a great teacher in another city. He asked an elderly man, “Sir, would you teach me all you know?” The man said, “No, son, I’m retired.” The boy asked if he could just play a few chords on the piano. After hearing him play, the man said, “Son, I’ll take you.”

For years the old music teacher poured his soul into the soul of the young man. Finally he said, “Son, you’re ready.” They rented a great hall for the boy’s debut, and it was filled. He played from his heart that night, and before he had finished, grown men were crying. But not once did the boy look at the crowd. He kept his eyes focused on the old man in the balcony, who was nodding and whispering, “You’re on the right track, son. Just keep it up.”

The next time you feel fear in the pit of your stomach, keep your eyes on Jesus. He’s at the point of your needs, whispering, “You’re on the right track. Just keep it up.” Remember this promise in Isaiah 26:3: Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.
