Joint Partakers

Lindsay Roberts

I’ve done lots of study from the the book of Philippians, in particular, the fourth chapter. I often use a Greek dictionary so I can learn the passages in the original context in which they were written. Recently, I had an insight that I would like to share with you today.

In Philippians 4:13˗14, we read: “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me. Notwithstanding ye have well done, that ye did communicate with my affliction.”

The apostle Paul was reminding the Philippians about the time when he had gone to Thessalonica and had been jailed, beaten, and finally kicked out of the city because of his preaching the Gospel. This church at Philippi helped Paul through that difficult time, and now he is writing to them and saying, “You have done well that you join with me and become joint partaker in my troubles for righteousness.” He’s thanking them for being in partnership with him.

The full message of what Paul is saying is this: “I can do all things through Christ which gives me strength, and through partners like you who help me and stand with me.”

That’s where we are in this ministry. We are only able to do what we do for the Lord — and to endure the persecution that the world throws at us—because of Christ Who gives us strength, and because of Partners who help us… who stand with us and “communicate” with us in their giving and with their prayers.

If you are a partner with the Oral Roberts Ministries, Richard and I would like to say “thank you.” Thank you for standing with us as we preach the Gospel and take God’s healing power to our nation and the world.

The apostle Paul held out a great promise to those who were his partners, and we are believing God to do the same for you: “My God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:19).

May it be so in your life today!
