Hero of Heroes

Richard RobertsSecond of three parts

The anointing of the Holy Spirit came upon me while I was a student at ORU. It has grown, and it’s going to continue to grow because I’ve got to continually have more of God’s anointing to carry out His call on my life.

When I was a little boy, I loved to attend my dad’s crusades and sit on the front row while my dad preached and prayed for the sick. I remember hearing about a woman who attended one of the crusades. Some of the people in her hometown had gotten together and given her bus fare so she could come. When she got back home, the people gathered around her and asked, “Did you see Brother Roberts?”

“Oh, no,” she said.

“But you did go to Brother Roberts’ crusade, didn’t you?” they asked.

“Oh, yes,” she answered. “I was at every service.”

“Well, how is it that you went to the Oral Roberts crusade and you didn’t see him?”

She said, “That man held Jesus so high that I couldn’t see him for seeing Jesus.”

The kind of hero we need in America today is the person who is lifting the real Hero, JESUS, so high we lose sight of everything else.

One reason we’re losing all our heroes is that we’ve got our eyes on people. It’s time to look on the face of Jesus.

America has lost her heroes, but it’s on the verge of discovering the Hero of heroes, and His Name is JESUS — the Author and Finisher of our faith.
