God’s Can-Do Man
I once heard the saying, “Success comes in cans, not in can’ts.” Paul said, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” (Philippians 4:13 NKJV).) I believe that Paul was God’s original can-do man. “I can” was his attitude.
In the preceding verse Paul had said, I know how to be abased, and I know how to abound. In other words, “I know how to survive, no matter what the circumstances.” You get the feeling that no matter what the devil threw at Paul, he knew that through Christ he was going to win.
As President and CEO of Oral Roberts Ministries, I have many decisions to make. Responsibility comes with those decisions, and as a leader I sometimes have to make hard decisions. So when you’re involved in leadership in any way, it’s important to stay focused on the Holy Spirit. I believe that real leadership is your hearing from the Holy Spirit and being a man or woman of authority who is also under authority—God’s authority. Leadership is submitting yourself to God, hearing from the Master, and then discharging the responsibilities you’ve been given.
Facing any hardship or challenge makes a man or woman out of you. Paul’s faith was speaking when he said he could do all things through Christ. He knew that through Christ he could win―and so can you!
