God Loves You

When my husband, Oral, first proposed to me, he used words like these: “My huge, happy, hilarious heart is throbbing tumultuously, tremendously, triumphantly, in a lingering, lasting, long-lived love for you. As I gaze into your beauteous, bounteous, beaming eyes, I am literally lost in a daring, delightful dream in which your fair, felicitous, fancy-filled face is ever present like a colossal, comprehensive constellation. Will you be my sweet, smiling, soulful, satisfied spouse?

I couldn’t believe my ears! That was no way to propose to marriage. So I looked at him, and said, “Listen here, if you’re trying to propose to me, do it in the English language.” He replied, “Honey, I really am asking you to marry me.” And, of course, I eventually said yes.

God states very plainly in His Word how He feels about us. He says, “I am my beloved’s, and my beloved is mine” (Song of Solomon 6:3). He says, “I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee” (Jeremiah 31:3). He says, “Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? … I am persuaded, that neither death, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creation, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Romans 8:35,38,39).

God plainly says to you today, “I love you.” His love is beyond measure… You can always count on it. It lasts.
