Get Your Hands on the Word

Richard Roberts

The Bible tells a powerful story about a woman who had an issue of blood for twelve long years. (See Mark 5:25-34) She had spent all of her money trying to get well, but she wasn’t any better. Hers is the story of many people today who are sick. They have done everything they know to do, but they can’t get well.

However, something happened to this woman. She heard about Jesus and His miracle-working power, and God lit a spark in her to believe that she could be healed! In Mark 5:28 NKJV she said with faith, “If only I may touch His clothes, I shall be made well.” Now John 1:14 says that Jesus is the Word in the flesh. So I don’t believe she was talking about touching Jesus’ clothes. She was really saying, “If I can just get my hands on the Word, I’ll be healed.”

Faith caused this sick woman to begin to expect a miracle! Instead of looking down at the condition of her body, she began to look up at the power of God. Instead of looking at the past, she started looking to the future. And once she began to act on her faith, things began to change.

Can you imagine this woman’s first shaky steps as she made her way to Jesus? A dogged determination rose up in her spirit, and she pushed her way through the crowd. When she reached Jesus, she reached out a trembling hand and touched His garment. A jolt of God’s power went through her and she was healed! She got her hands on the Word of God and she received her miracle! This is a powerful truth for you and me today. When we believe the Word of God, faith rises up in our hearts, and we can reach out to God and receive our miracle.
