Faith Talk, Not Fear Talk

Lindsay Roberts

The Word says, “Out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks” (Matthew 12:34). And also in Proverbs 18:21 it says, “Death and life are in the power of the tongue.”

We are to guard what goes into our hearts. I have learned that in a tough situation, when I put God’s Word in my heart, it’s that Word that can come out of my mouth. Rather than having fear buried in my heart and then speak doubt and fear, we can have God’s Word in our heart and allow His Word to be active and alive and full of power.

Psalm 107:28 says, “They cry unto the Lord in their troubles, and He brings them out of their distresses.” I want to encourage you that when you cry, cry out to the Lord. We can talk faith or we can talk fear. I always say, “What do you get when you squeeze a lemon? You get whatever is on the inside.” Well, when we’re squeezed, what comes out is whatever is on the inside. We can hide God’s Word in our hearts so that when the devil comes to squeeze our lives, we can cry out to God. Then, faith can come up from the inside, and God can deliver us from our troubles.

Today, may the words that come from your heart breathe life rather than fear into your situation.
