Develop a Habit of “Putting On” the Word of God Every Day

Richard Roberts

Do you brush your teeth every day? Do you put on your clothes every day? I certainly do. But when we were just babies, a baby had to have help and then learn to do those things by developing a habit of doing them.

When children are young, parents commonly check on their children and say, “Did you brush your teeth? Are you dressed properly for the day?” They continue reminding them until they become older and it becomes a pattern for each day.

Well, in the same way that I wouldn’t dream of leaving my home without first brushing my teeth or putting on proper clothing for the day, I also wouldn’t dream of leaving my home without putting on the garment of praise and declaring the Word of God. I have done that for so long, that it has created an important habit of developing my daily relationship with God and with His Word. And what started out to be a habit has turned in to such a great joy which I look forward to each and every day.

I believe that when we start out by developing good habits, they become part of our entire life. And what better thing could we do as part of our life then continually putting on the garment of praise and operating in the Word of God?
