Afraid of Failure

From the archives of Oral Roberts

Many good things are left undone because of the fear of failure. The fear of being censured, ridiculed, or pitied can keep us from doing what God has called us to do.

I had a soul-shaking experience with this when the Lord called me into the healing ministry. A fear so great arose in my mind that I fell on my knees and sobbed, “O God, what if I fail?” Then I felt God say, “Son, you already have.” I realized I had no reason to be afraid of failure ― I had already failed! Now God was giving me a chance to take His healing and forgiveness to others. I had never felt so dependent on God.

I learned then that His strength is indeed made perfect in our weakness (II Corinthians 12:9).
