In Genesis 12:1-2 NKJV, the Lord told Abraham, “Get out of your country, from your family and from your father’s house, to a land that I will show you.”
God didn’t tell Abraham what his destination was until he and his family arrived there in the land of Canaan. In essence, He was sending Abraham to a place called “There.” He was saying, “Abraham, get up and go. You’ll know where you’re going when you get there.” Abraham was obedient to the Lord’s direction, and when he got there, God said, “Now you’re there!”
Have you ever felt that in order to be obedient to do what God has called you to do, you first had to get all your finances together? There are times when it does take money to do what God has called us to do. But sometimes we have it backwards when we allow the thought of provision to talk us out of obedience.
Now, I’m all for being prepared and counting the cost emotionally, physically, spiritually, and even financially. I also believe that first God wants our obedience. When we get to the place of obedience, God can meet us there. I believe the place of obedience is also designed to be the place of accomplishing what He has called us to. He has given to us THE measure of faith, and faith is the substance of things hoped for with the evidence of things not yet seen (Romans 12:3 & Hebrews 11:1). BUT, just because we haven’t seen it yet doesn’t mean God has not already prepared it and is waiting for us to reach out in faith. As we stretch out our faith to God, He can respond with provision. God is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him (Hebrews 11:6).
When you get to a place called “There,” things can begin to happen. You don’t have to spend the rest of your life trying to pay for it. It may well be just the exact opposite. When you get to the place of obedience, God can begin to surprise you with His provision. He can send it supernaturally. He can send it exceedingly. He can send it extravagantly. Our part is to believe God, to thank Him for it, and to release our faith and expect a miracle.
If you think you have to do it all by yourself, consider going to the place of obedience and expecting God to do His part and to meet you “there” supernaturally!
