A Parent’s Prayer

From the archives of Evelyn Roberts

One of my favorite Scriptures is Matthew 18:19 NKJV. It says, “If two of you agree on earth concerning anything that they ask, it will be done for them by My Father in heaven.” I believe a parent’s prayers can be powerful. Over the years I have heard from so many people who tell me that their children are not serving the Lord. As a parent, I understand the pain they must be feeling. But more important, God understands. He loves our children more than we can possibly know, and He longs to work miracles in their lives.

You can do everything humanly possible for your children as they’re growing up. You can meet their physical needs, teach them the Word of God, and pray with them and for them. In the end, however, you have to give them over to the Lord and stand on His promises for them. First Peter 5:7 tells us to cast all our cares upon Him, because He cares for us. That includes our concerns for our children. Give them to the Lord and trust Him to take care of them. Let’s pray together and expect a miracle in our children’s lives.

Father, we’re think of our children right now, and we lift them up to You. According to Jeremiah 29:11, You have a plan for their lives, and it’s a plan to prosper them and give them hope and a future. Thank You for taking care of them and for sending someone across their paths to lead them to salvation and keep them strong in their walk with you. Our children are Yours, Father, and we trust You to take care of them and guide their lives. We pray in the precious Name of Your Son, Jesus. Amen.
