Mid-July 2012 Partner Letter

Dear Partner,

Are you facing something in your life that needs the touch of God? Maybe you’re thinking that in your situation, it’s going to take a miracle to settle the issue. If that’s true, then you’re in a better place than you may realize…because you serve a miracle-working God who has good plans for your future. You can turn to Him for help today, and believe Him for the very miracle you need to settle the issue you’re facing.

In spite of what many people think, miracles can and do happen today, because Jesus is still alive! Now, Jesus called the marvelous things that took place in His ministry “the works of My Father.” He did not call them miracles, because to Him they were normal and expected. As a child of God, you can expect miracles too, as a normal part of living in relationship with the Lord.

Always remember, Jesus is the same yesterday, today, and forever (Hebrews 13:8). The same Jesus who went about performing miracles 2,000 years ago is still here today, in spirit and in truth. Jesus was and still is in the miracle-working business. It’s a part of who He is.

Once you invite Him into your heart as Lord and Savior, He is with you. And where Jesus is, miracles happen! Amazing provision and deliverances happen, because He was anointed by God so that he could go about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him (Acts 10:38). He is with you, right now, and His hands are outstretched toward you. You can choose right now to reach out and touch Him by faith, expecting the answers you need.

In the Bible, miracles were always happening because people were expecting them to happen—people like the Roman centurion, the woman with the issue of blood, blind Bartimaeus, and others. They expected God to take a hand in their lives, to make things happen, to perform miracles anytime, anywhere. They opened their minds and hearts to God’s miracle-working power, and as a result, supernatural things were constantly happening.

When you expect something from God, you get prepared to take hold of it… You recognize it and eagerly reach out and take it. Unless you have this expectancy, your miracle may pass you by because you don’t even notice it. But when you are expecting it to happen, you’ll be able to recognize it when it comes, reach out for it, and make it yours.

When you EXPECT God to do something for you, it means you stay in an attitude of hopeof positive anticipation that good things are coming to you. Expecting from God is keeping your faith firmly hooked into His Word. And when you expect miracles, you are expecting Him to be true to who He is—a loving, good God with good plans for you as you believe Him and obey His Word.

In today’s world with all its uncertainties, we must have miracles! And in order to have them, we must expect them. Keep in mind this simple truth: Performing a miracle is God’s part. Expecting a miracle is YOUR part. It’s your expectation—which is your faith actively reaching out to Him in accordance with His Word—that brings His power into your life in a way that changes things for the better.

Let me show you how EXPECTING a miracle helps bring the power of God into your life… Acts 3:1–8 tells the story of a man who was completely healed of a lifelong inability to walk when the mighty name of Jesus was spoken in faith!

Now Peter and John went up together to the temple… And a certain man lame from his mother’s womb was… laid daily at the gate…who, seeing Peter and John about to go into the temple, asked for alms. And fixing his eyes on him, with John, Peter said, “Look at us.” So he gave them his attention, EXPECTING to receive something from them. Then Peter said, “Silver and gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk.” And he took him by the right hand and lifted him up, and IMMEDIATELY his feet and ankle bones received strength. So he, leaping up, stood and walked and entered the temple with them—walking, leaping, and praising God.

Now, pay close attention here… The lame man at the temple was EXPECTING something. At first, he expected a handout from Peter and John, because that’s what he usually received from the people who passed him by. But when he saw that Peter and John had something better than money, he began to expect healing… He began to expect the power of God!

I believe the lame man’s expectation and Peter’s expectation came together and tapped into God’s healing power… As a result, the man walked for the first time in his life! Because he expected something to happen, he obeyed the word of the Lord that Peter gave, and he received his miracle.

And miracles weren’t just for Bible times… Amazing supernatural works of God are happening TODAY, through this ministry, as partners reach out to God in faith, expecting… I’m talking about partners like Donna from Illinois, whose husband, Bob, had been diagnosed with liver failure. While in the hospital to be tested for a possible transplant, a CT scan revealed Bob had a cancerous spot on his lungs. Not only did he have cancer, but he couldn’t have a transplant either!

Bob was very discouraged, almost without hope… But Donna called the Abundant Life Prayer Group to agree in prayer for his healing. Then she brought him to a special time of ministry that I had in Tulsa, and I laid hands on him, believing God for Bob’s healing.

Bob and Donna continued to expect God’s healing power. A few months later, follow-up tests revealed that the cancer was gone, and Bob’s liver was functioning within normal ranges, so he no longer needed the transplant!

Partner, a miracle doesn’t come out of the blue. It begins with Jesus! It begins with your personal relationship with Him as Lord and Savior. Once you have accepted Him into your heart, you can begin to reach out in faith to Him for your needs to be met. For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily; and YOU are complete in Him… (Colossians 2:9–10).

How do you know what to expect from the Lord? You turn to His Word—the Bible—and learn what it says. There are so many wonderful and powerful promises that God makes to His children in the Bible…including healing, financial provision, deliverance, restoration for things that have been damaged or stolen from you, peace in times of stress, joy, wisdom for the decisions of life, and so much more! And Matthew 6:33 promises that as we seek Him and His kingdom first, He will add all these things unto us. So we can expect good from Him!

Once you know what God says about these things, you can begin to frame your world by speaking His Word into the midst of your circumstances. The more you hear yourself speak God’s Word, the more you can concentrate on how God’s goodness will look as it comes to pass in your life. It helps you stay grounded on what He said instead of how your situation appears. It counters anything that the devil may be trying to do. By speaking His Word over your life, you’re giving God permission to come into your situation with all His miracle-working power.

How do you expect and keep expecting miracles from God? Well, I want
to share some Biblical principles to help you do that… So pay close attention to what I’m saying here, and ask the Lord to show you how to apply these truths in your life, starting today…

Principle #1:
Have an attitude of expecting God to do something for you,
and hold on firmly to that attitude until you receive an answer.

The Bible tells us how Jesus came to preach in His hometown, Nazareth. The people there had heard the stories about how He was preaching, teaching, and healing in other places. But when He came home, no one was excited about it. They didn’t recognize Him as the Savior, so they didn’t expect Him to do miracles. As a result, He could do no mighty miracles there (Matthew 13:58). They didn’t receive miracles because they wouldn’t put their faith in Him, and without faith, it’s impossible to please Him (Hebrews 11:6).

But look what happens when you believe God’s Word and expect Him to do miracles…

Jesus left Nazareth and went to Capernaum, where He found a very different atmosphere. The people welcomed Him with open arms. They listened to Him preach, and when He was done, He healed Peter’s mother-in-law. By the evening, the whole town showed up, and Jesus began to do many miracles… healing people, casting out demons, and bringing great joy to the city (Luke 4:31–41).

That’s the difference between expecting and not expecting. As you EXPECT miracles, you can begin to take hold of them when God sends them your way.

Principle #2:
Don’t try to figure out all the details. Instead, trust God to know what He’s doing, how He’s doing it, and the timing He’s using…

The Word tells us, Trust in the Lord with all your heart; and lean not on your own understanding (Proverbs 3:5). You don’t have to understand how it’s going to happen or come about; you just have to believe God’s Word and keep believing Him until you receive your miracle.

Principle #3:
Be specific with what you’re expecting from God and base your expectations on what God’s Word already says you can have through your relationship with Jesus.

You must have something SPECIFIC in mind as you expect God to work in your behalf. Why? Expecting is like the thermostat in your home—it doesn’t do anything unless you put it on and set the temperature. But when you do, what happens? You get the temperature you asked for. It may take some time for your house to get there, but it will, as long as you leave the thermostat on.

In the same way, your faith has to be set firmly on the thing you are believing God for. If you keep your faith turned on and don’t give up, you’ll see your expectation become a reality in your life.

Principle #4:
Keep expecting until you receive. Don’t quit.

It’s important to continue expecting until you see your prayers answered. It may take time for the process to take place, but at the right time and in the right way, I believe God brings about good for us, as we continue to trust and obey Him.

Don’t give in to the thought that you don’t have enough faith to receive the miracle you need… The truth is, you do have enough faith to expect the miracle that’s going to settle the issue for you, because God gave the right amount faith to you already, according to Romans 12:3.

The key is this: You must USE that faith. You must stick with what you are believing. Continue to believe God and keep your eyes open for His means of blessing you. The way to receive God’s supernatural blessing is to believe His Word with your heart, obey what the Lord says, and continue to stay in faith and expectation until your deliverance comes to pass.

Of course, Lindsay and I are always here to pray and agree with you for the miracles you need, and so is the Abundant Life Prayer Group. So, when you send in your Prayer Response this month, tell me specifically what you are expecting God to do for you. Get SPECIFIC with Him, so He can get specific in His answer to you. And I’ll expect with you for His best to come about in your life.

And I challenge you to get SPECIFIC and EXPECT miracles in your seed-sowing too… Remember, the first recorded miracle of Jesus in the Bible was not the healing of a blind man or the deliverance of someone possessed by a demon. It was a miracle of seed-faith—pouring in water and pouring out wine.

Seed-faith is a Bible-honored principleGive and it SHALL be given to you (Luke 6:38). So, when you sow your seed this month, I want you to EXPECT your harvest to come to you because Jesus came to give you abundant life (John 10:10). And seed-faith is a miracle of abundant life from God!

Think about it… You take a small seed and put it in the dirt, covering it up and putting weight on top of it… You’d think it would simply stay buried, but it doesn’t. As it gets sunlight and water, and as time passes, the seed begins to grow until it erupts from the ground, grows leaves, and produces a flower or fruit.

When you plant your seeds of faith to God and water them, they will grow
and produce harvests for you. You water your seeds with your words, your prayers, and your obedience to the Lord.

That’s why it is so important to ASK God what He would have you sow THIS MONTH… Obey Him by sowing your seed as soon as you can get it in the mail… And then continue to speak over your seed in faith, SAYING that you EXPECT your harvest from the Lord according to Luke 6:38.

As soon as I receive your seed and know what specific harvests you are expecting from the Lord, I will stand in faith with you and pray for your harvest. And when you send your prayer requests to me, I’ll hold them in my hands and pray, expecting God to send miracles to meet your needs.

I encourage you to CONTINUE to expect miracles and harvests in your life and in the lives of your loved ones. Speak God’s Word in faith over your circumstances as you put your Prayer Response and seed-faith gift in the mail this month. Keep looking for God’s provision to come to you. He is faithful to bless you and care for you as you remain faithful to believe and obey Him.

Now, I’m believing and expecting God’s best in your life. And I look forward to hearing from you just as soon as you can respond to this letter!

Your partner for miracles,

PS. Don’t forget—your Prayer Response form, your seed-faith gifts, and your calls to the Abundant Life Prayer Group are each a point of contact to believe God for miracles. As you send me your prayer requests, call the Prayer Group for prayer, and sow your seeds, you can use it as another opportunity to declare out loud that you are believing God for His blessings in your life. I’m standing with you in faith, expecting His best for you… And I can’t wait to hear from you about how He answers your prayers with harvests of miracles and provision!

I declare this Bible-based Word over my circumstances RIGHT NOW!

Lord Jesus, Acts 10:38 says the Father anointed You so You could do good and heal all who are oppressed by the devil. I reach out now in faith and ask You to bring about good for me and my loved ones. Heal and deliver me in my body, family, job, finances, and every other area of life. Today, as I give Richard my prayer requests and sow my seed, I release my faith to You and EXPECT Your good harvests to come my way, starting today, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
