February Letter

Dear Partner,

In a few days, millions of Americans will make their way to the florist, the candy shelf in their favorite store, and the jewelry store where the professionals tell us the average amount each American will spend on flowers, candy, apparel, jewelry and other gifts to help them celebrate Valentine’s Day will be $146.84.

Think about it… $19.7 billion is being predicted to be spent on Valentine’s Day gifts. When you break it down, $1.7 billion dollars will be spent on candy, $1.9 billion will be spent on flowers, and another $16.1 billion for jewelry, clothing and cards filling in the balance…

Please don’t misunderstand me when I tell you that I found it amusing that $19.7 billion… that’s billion with a “B”… is being spent by people in search of love… the very word that hundreds of millions of dollars was spent buying a song that asked, “What’s Love Got to Do with It?”

Will I purchase a Valentine’s Day card for Lindsay? Absolutely! Will I buy flowers for her, the love of my life? Absolutely! Will I look her in the eye and say, “Lindsay, I love you?” Absolutely! HOWEVER, it won’t be because some pagan holiday received the blessing of the church and overnight became a Christian holiday. It will be because I know the meaning of love, the real love…

…The love that caused God Himself to send His only Son to a manger in Bethlehem to be a walking, talking example of His love…(Luke 2:7).

…The love expressed by Jesus when He honored His mother’s request to turn water into wine to fulfill the request of the wedding guest…(John 2:5–10).

…The love that causes the shepherd to leave the 99 and the safety of the encampment to go in search of the one lost sheep…(Luke 15:4).

…The love expressed by Mary Magdalene when she washed the feet of Jesus…(Luke 7:44).

…The love expressed by the widow who gave her last two coins in support of the work of the Lord…(Luke 21:2).

…The love that Jesus spoke as a definition: “By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another”…(John 13:35).

…The love expressed through the giving of life on Calvary for others…(Luke 23:33).

…The love expressed from the cross when Jesus welcomed a repentant heart to join Him in paradise that very day…(Luke 23:43).

…The love that does not cut and run at the first signs of rough times: “Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord”…(Romans 8:39).

…The love defined by God Himself: “He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love”…(1 John 4:8).

So, “What’s Love Got to Do with It?” EVERYTHING to the Believer, the follower of Christ. It defines us… It connects us to God… It connects us to each other…

And when the last piece of chocolate has been eaten, the flowers have wilted to brown, and the gold necklace has been tossed in the drawer for another time, GOD’S LOVE is there… ready to lift you up… ready to strengthen you… ready to help you see yourself as God sees you… healed, financially secure, strengthened in relationships, and enjoying the fellowship of the family of Believers.

Please read this out loud… We can love because God Himself established an emphatic doctrine through the Atonement of Christ… Both salvation and bodily healing were provided, and it is God’s will to take away the sickness of His own, and to fulfill the number of their days according to His promise (Exodus 23:25–26). I hope you are allowing this to take root in your spirit, because this is the time to praise God…

Right now, and for the days ahead, I challenge you to talk about what you love. Allow the Holy Spirit to refresh your Love for God… for His Word… for your family… and for this ministry and the mission God has placed before us.

This is February. January is behind us. If you made mistakes in January, ask forgiveness for them. Ask God to help keep you from making the same mistakes this month, and purpose in your heart to flow in the God kind of Love as you walk through the days of February.

It’s time for us to renew our excitement for life… It’s time for us to create a godly climate in which the seeds of success we have planted will grow. These are exciting days for Kingdom ACTION… These are exciting days for us to step into the Greater Works Jesus was talking about when He said, “Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father” (John 14:12).

So, What’s Love Got to Do with It? EVERYTHING God’s love is “the same yesterday, and today, and forever” (Hebrews 13:8). Jesus says to all who come to Him, “He that cometh unto Me, I will in no wise cast out.” This is the Good News that God has called us to preach to every creature, so that every creature may have the privilege of enjoying “the fullness of the blessing of the Gospel of Christ.” This is exactly what you are doing when you participate as a partial or full sponsor of a Greater Works Tablet.

Since stepping in to fulfill the Greater Works mission God has placed before this ministry, I have reestablished a powerful truth… Love breaks through all kinds of barriers. Through our desire to communicate the good news of Jesus and His love, language barriers are being broken. Because of your partnership with us, we continue to see victories through the Abundant Life Prayer Group. Because you are standing with us through your prayers and financial support, we are seeing chains of bondage being broken from the lives of hurting people as we continue to lift up Jesus.

Partner, I want you to know I never take your prayers and financial support for granted, because I believe God has brought us together for the mission He has placed before us.

So, What’s Love Got to Do with It? EVERYTHING! When we go to Ghana, West Africa, in March, we go because God (who is Love) set the example for each of us to follow.

God’s love does not fear that which is ahead. God’s love allows us to rejoice in the opportunity of another open door.

God’s love is not stingy with fear of loss. God’s love always wants to give.

God’s love never fails for lack. God’s love is strong because of its abundance.

God’s love anticipates the needs of others and is there to stand in the gap.

Paul said that love never fails. “Prophecies will fail and knowledge shall vanish away, but Love never fails” (1 Corinthians 13:8).

Jesus proved that love anticipates the needs of others. He set Zacchaeus and the Samaritan woman free…and countless others! He can set YOU and YOUR LOVED ONES FREE too…

As you complete the enclosed Prayer and Praise Sheet, I challenge you to ACT on your faith in the God kind of love as you sow your love into those you and I have been brought together to reach. I can assure you on the authority of the Word, “Knowing that whatsoever good thing any man doeth (this means you), the same shall he receive of the Lord, whether he be bond or free” (Ephesians 6:8). And as you sow your LOVE GIFT this month, I challenge you to expect God to honor His Word in and through your personal life.

Please let this take root in your spirit. It’s ALL about LOVE. Love has everything to do with the way you and I, as Believers, attack challenges, respond to the needs of people, pray for the healing of the sick, and ACT on our faith in God’s ability to fulfill His every promise in our lives when we sow into the Kingdom work of God.

There is nothing like being in association with men and women of like precious faith… men and women who share an uncommon love for the work of God. What we sow together as we reach into the exciting world God has opened to us through the work in Ghana, as well as the others who are looking to us for a better understanding of the Word, we will reap together in the Harvest of His promises.

And because of the importance of our mission, I’m coming boldly in the love of God, asking you to continue to stand with me through your prayers and faithful financial support of what God is doing in and through this ministry. In my spirit, I feel we must continue to move ahead in our outreach to the lost, even as we strengthen the Believer as God directs.

I believe we are on the brink of something great happening in the lives of all who make the choice to see themselves as a participant in the Greater Works God has for us to accomplish. You hold the key to the level of involvement. The key is getting involved… The key is coming into a relationship with God’s plan for your life in such a way that He can bless you as you bless others. No secret formula is involved… The Word is not a mystery at this point. Seed Time and Harvest is fundamental to God’s plan to bless His people, and that includes blessing you!

As you prepare to step boldly into the coming days of February, I challenge you to allow the Holy Spirit to rekindle the love He has placed in your heart… See yourself acting on that love through your faith in God’s ability to fulfill His every promise in your life. I challenge you to stir up the love you have for winning the lost and strengthening Believers… See God at work in and through your life as you participate in the Greater Works He has called us to do, so that our Heavenly Father would be glorified.

I look forward to hearing from you and standing with you for the Power of Agreement to be released in and through your life in exciting new ways. If you need a healing in your body, please use the Prayer and Praise Sheet to let me know about it… If there is a financial need in your life, let me know about that, too. As your partner in ministry, I want to come into agreement with you that the Greater Works of our Heavenly Father are released to work in and through your life.

So, when asked, “What’s Love Got to Do with It?”, just answer, EVERYTHING!

Your Partner, in His Love,
Richard
