The God of Increase

Lindsay Roberts

God is not a God of subtraction and division. I once heard a preacher say, “He’s the God of multiplication and addition!” But how can we know our Lord is a God of increase? Is it biblical? Take a look at the promises in God’s Word:

Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you (Matthew 6:33 NKJV).

He [God] who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will also supply and increase your store of seed and will enlarge the harvest of your righteousness.  You will be made rich in every way (2 Corinthians 9:10–11 NIV).

That year Isaac’s crops were tremendous! He harvested a hundred times more grain than he planted, for the Lord blessed him (Genesis 26:12 NLT).

“I’ll make sure you prosper, make sure you grow in numbers, and keep my covenant with you … You’ll still be eating from last year’s harvest when you have to clean out the barns to make room for the new crops” (Leviticus 26:9–10 MSG).

“I am God Almighty … I will establish My covenant between Me and you, and I will multiply you exceedingly” (Genesis 17:1–2 NASB).

He [God] will love you, he will bless you, he will increase you (Deuteronomy 7:13 MSG).

When we sacrificially sow seed, sometimes we may feel as if we’ll be left with nothing.  But that’s not scriptural. God multiplies our seed … He adds to our blessing … He is the God of increase!
