By Faith We Receive

I had thought about being in a healing ministry, but I wondered if God could ever use me because I’d made a lot of mistakes in my life. But the good news is, when you make a mistake, you can go to God. When you commit sin, you can go to God. The Bible says in John 1:9 that if you confess it to Him, He is faithful and just to forgive your sins. He will cleanse you from all unrighteousness. That means He wipes the slate clean. You don’t get up in the morning and say, “Well, bless God, I’m going to make a mistake today.” That’s not how it happens. You usually find out on the way that you’ve made a mistake. “Oh, God, I didn’t mean to do that! Oh, God, I didn’t intend for it to turn out that way. God I’ve committed a sin, and I didn’t mean to do it.”

I’ve made many mistakes in my life and I didn’t know that God could use me. But I was preaching one night and at the end of the service, I heard myself say, “Lord, heal that man’s big toe.”

I wondered why I’d said it, but I closed the service and went home. A few days later, I heard from a man who said, “How did you know about my big toe? My toe was broken and a doctor x-rayed it. Then I went back and had it x-rayed again. The second x-ray showed there was no break, and there was no pain. What did you do?”

That night, I had dreamed of a man’s big toe. For three nights I dreamed the same dream. My wife said to me, “This is the beginning of a healing ministry in your life.”

That experience caused me to begin to search the Bible for healing scriptures, day after day and week after week. Finally I came to Mark 11:24, which says, Therefore I say into you, what things so ever you desire, when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you shall have them.

And I said to the Lord, “By faith, I receive my healing ministry.”
