What Do You Allow?

Lindsay Roberts

Do you realize that your words have the kind of creative power that can stop Satan in his tracks? Your words…God’s Word… can bind him!

In Matthew 18:18–19 Jesus said,  “Assuredly, I say to you, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven. Again I say to you that if two of you agree on earth concerning anything that they ask, it will be done for them by My Father in heaven.”

God has given you a commitment…His Word. And it says that what you stop on earth is stopped in heaven, and what you allow on earth is permitted in heaven.

I remember a time when I felt a concern in my spirit about a friendship one of my daughters was involved with. It really bugged me. Yet I allowed it to progress because I didn’t want to rock the boat.

That was a serious mistake. A few days later I noticed an action…and a reaction…in my daughter that was like a mirror image of the girl she’d been hanging around with.

Then I heard the unmistakable voice of the Lord reminding me, “What you allow you go into agreement with.”

I said, “That’s it! It stops today!” I decided, at the risk of hurting my daughter’s feelings, that I would not permit this association anymore. I realized a short-term hurt would bring long-term benefits, no matter how difficult the process.

What you agree to, you can be bound to. What are you allowing?
