Three Easy Payments

One night, when I couldn’t sleep, I turned on the TV and watched an infomercial. These shows usually promise miracles. They’re going to fix your thighs, your backside, or your hair, or they’re trying to sell you a certain kind of cream or some other razzle-dazzle stuff.

That night a guy was talking about success and prosperity from a secular viewpoint, and people were buying his tapes like hot cakes. As I watched, it hit me: Sometimes we Christians will buy some success message in a kit from a total stranger, but we don’t trust the Bible’s teaching on prosperity!

The Bible has a lot to say about prosperity. In fact, when I looked up the word “prosperity” on a Bible app, there were 39 pages of references to it. That man’s TV audience could have saved money if they had just read Joshua 1:8, which says, This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.

God delights in the Christian’s prosperity. You don’t have to make three easy payments of $39.95, and maybe, if you’re lucky, you’ll prosper. If you meditate on God’s word and observe to do it ― make it a way of life ― then God’s prosperity can be available to you for free!
