The Greatest Miracle

Richard Roberts

We serve a God who has the power not only to save us but also to heal us, deliver us, and set us free. A story in Matthew 9 illustrates this truth:

Behold, they brought to Him [Jesus] a paralytic lying on a bed. When Jesus saw their faith, He said to the paralytic, “Son, be of good cheer; your sins are forgiven you.” And at once some of the scribes said within themselves, “This Man blasphemes (vv.2–3 NKJV)!”

The scribes and Pharisees had seen Jesus perform all types of miracles before, and they never denied His power to heal. What they denied was the greatest miracle of all ― the salvation of the man’s soul, the forgiveness of his sins.

Jesus knew what they thought, and He said to them, “Which is easier, to say, ‘Your sins are forgiven you,’ or to say, ‘Arise and walk’? But that you may know that the Son of Man has power on earth to forgive sins” then He said to the paralytic, “Arise, take up your bed, and go to your house.”And he arose and departed to his house (vv. 5–7 NKJV).

God has not lost any of His power. No matter what your need is, whether it’s for salvation, healing, or to be released from some type of addiction, the same miracle power that transformed the paralytic’s life is available to you through the name of Jesus. Reach out with your faith and receive it today!
