Strength in Numbers

Lindsay Roberts

“I say to you that if two of you agree on earth concerning anything that they ask, it will be done for them by My Father in heaven.”—Matthew 18:19 NKJV

Have you ever wondered why members of our ministry family are called Partners? There’s a lot of scriptural foundation for becoming a partner with a person or a ministry that is doing what you’d like to do but you can’t accomplish by yourself. I am amazed at what God does when two or more Christians partner together in a work for His glory. This healing ministry, Oral Roberts Ministries, is just one example.

Although it has become a cliché in today’s society, there truly is strength in numbers. The Bible teaches this. How many did Gideon have in his army that defeated the Midianites? Three hundred! (See Judges 6-8.) How many of Jesus’ followers were in the Upper Room when the Holy Spirit fell upon them and the charismatic movement was born? One hundred and twenty! (See Acts 1:15, Acts 2:1–4.) What mighty acts occur when one, then two, then more, combine their strengths in partnership!

When we join together as partners, we join our strengths to complement each other, and we become stronger. When we partner together, we defeat the plan of the devil, and we both become partakers of whatever harvest is reaped.

Deuteronomy 32:30 says that one can chase a thousand to flight, and two can put ten thousand to flight! As the body of Christ joins together, we become joint partners in what God has called us to do for His kingdom—bring souls into the kingdom of God!
