Listen to the Echo

From the archives of Oral Roberts

When God told me to be like Jesus, it wasn’t a voice I heard, but an echo. Jesus had said, “All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations” (Matthew 28:18˗19). All the kingdom of darkness that we’ve been fighting against seems so strong against us, but greater is he that is in you [us], than he that is in the world (1 John 4:4).

Jesus said that all power in heaven and earth is His. Now, Christ is inside our being, and all that power is inside us. We are able to be like Jesus in this world and win over the forces of darkness.

Not only can we be like Jesus; we are to be like Jesus. He has commanded us to go and do His work. As Jesus sent out His twelve disciples with the power He had given them, He commanded them saying, “Go, preach, saying, ‘The kingdom of heaven is at hand.’ Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give” (Matthew 10:7˗8). We have freely received His power; now we are to freely give it to help others who are hurting and in need.

When God told me to be like Jesus, that’s when my hour of victory over the devil and his kingdom came. I understood that the authority and power hadn’t stopped with the twelve disciples. It leaped from them to all nations and generations. Jesus has authorized us to be those who do signs and wonders as He did.
