We all want to have peace in our lives. There are many definitions for the word “peace,” but one meaning is “destroying the stronghold that creates chaos.” We can’t have peace until chaos is removed.
I’ll give you an example. One time, my mother went on vacation and she left her two little dogs at our house. Now I loved her dogs. But we had three of our own, and together with her two, you can imagine the chaos they created. Anytime someone came through the door, all five dogs would converge on the person and bark at the top of their lungs. Talk about confusion and chaos! The only way to get any peace was to open the back door and let all the dogs outside. The way we created peace was to get the chaos out of the house…in this case, to put all five dogs in the yard. We separated them from the situation.
The Bible says, God is not the author of confusion, but of peace (1 Corinthians 14:33). Chaos and confusion come from the devil, not God. When you find yourself in a state of confusion, or chaos seems to be taking over, stop and say, “Father, show me what’s going on here so I can get rid of this chaos and Your peace can rule my life.”
To re-establish God’s peace in a situation, first submit yourselves…to God. Then, resist the devil and his chaos. Say, “Devil, in Jesus’ name, take your chaos and confusion and get out of my life.” And the Bible says he will flee from you (James 4:7).You may also want to take a bottle of anointing oil and anoint your doorposts and declare, “Father, in the name of Jesus, the peace of God rules in this house and in my life.” This can destroy the devil’s stronghold that creates chaos.
