Even More

Ephesians 3:20 tells us that the Lord “is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think.”

I love this verse, for it tells me that God has a miracle greater for me than anything I’ve thought of yet! Now, I can think pretty big thoughts. I can believe God for great miracles. I can imagine some pretty big things to do for the Kingdom of God. But God says that there’s even more that He is able to do for us.

This verse goes on to say that we receive God’s exceeding abundance, “according to the power that worketh in us.” What is that power?

In this same passage in Ephesians, the Apostle Paul tells us that the power working in us is …

  • The Holy Spirit―The Apostle Paul prays, “I bow my knees unto the father of our Lord Jesus Christ … that he would grant you , according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man” (Ephesians 3:14,16).
  • Our Faith in Christ―Paul prays, “That Christ may dwell in your heart by faith” (Ephesians 3:17).
  • The Love of Christ ―which Paul says “passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all of the fullness of God” (Ephesians 3:19).

It’s the Holy Spirit stirring up our faith and the love of Christ in us that puts us into position to receive “above all that we ask or think!” What a wonderful promise of God that is to us. It’s the same blessing that God promises us in Malachi 3:10 when He says, “I will pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.” Now that’s the blessing I want us to receive from God!
