Ask Again

Richard Roberts

Lindsay tells the story of a little dog she had that used to play with a sock that was tied with several knots. This little dog would grab hold and play tug of war with anyone who would play. He would fight and jump and squirm and hold on to that sock that was as big as he was and never let go until he finally won. Lindsay loved to watch his persistence to fight to the finish. She loved his tenacity.

Friend, we need to have tenacious, persistent faith to stick it out until we finish what God has called us to do—in our jobs, our homes, our marriages, our health, our families, and our very lives.

There are times when we need to cry out for miracles and keep crying out with a persistent, don’t-give-up faith.

Jesus told a story in the Gospel of Luke about a little widow woman who went to a judge in her city and demanded justice. She went again and again and cried, “Avenge me of mine adversary.” This judge didn’t fear God and wasn’t afraid of any man, but finally he said, “I will avenge her, lest by her continual coming she weary me.”

Then the Lord said, “Hear what the unjust judge said. And shall God not avenge His own elect who cry out day and night to Him, though He bears long with them? I tell you that He will avenge them speedily (Luke 18:3˗8).

Have you asked God for a miracle that you haven’t yet received? Don’t give up! Don’t be discouraged if God doesn’t seem to answer you when you think He should. Ask… and then ask again; keep on holding on, in faith!
